Home / CELTA Overview
Although South Africa has 11 official languages, English is the main language of the government and one of the most popularly used in business. The country has a need for English teachers who are qualified to teach English as second language. English teachers in South Africa are expected to have a degree and/or a TEFL certificate like the CELTA.
The Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is an internationally recognised TEFL qualification, administered by Cambridge English Language Assessment and regulated by OFQUAL at Level 5 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
The CELTA training at Capetown and Johannesburg will combine both theory and practical training to boost your confidence, and equip you with the required skills to independently handle an ESL classroom - in South Africa or abroad.
English students in South Africa are of a great variety in terms of age and backgrounds.
